"Count your blessings . . . . . . . name them one by one . . . ."
Go on ---- seriously.
When praying for others or for yourself
(Intercession or petition) picture the prayer as answered.
i.e. the sick healed, the problem solved, the danger averted
. . . . . . God works through our positive prayers and thoughts.
A good man's prayer is powerful and effective.
James ch.5 v.16
We bless thee for our creation, preservation and all the blessings of this life, but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ . . for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
"But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."
In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate-street, where one was reading Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.
Fear knocked at the door.
Faith Opened it -
and there was no one there.
Lord , when all sems dark and uncertain,
be our light.
When we have no control, no voice,
help us to trust.
When we see no way forward, be our path.
So may we come through pain to the joy of new life in you.
